ABOUT CLOUD PROPELLER

Over the past 9+ years Cloud Propeller has helped countless businesses, community organizations, and academic institutions improve performance, maximize security, save money, enhance productivity, and streamline IT operations vital to success.

We are run by a dedicated team of engineers with decades of combined experience in Enterprise IT. We've worked together at previous jobs for many years and one day we decided to become a service provider ourselves. For over a decade now we've been running a very successful business together.

Providing Servers and Hosting Since 2005

Before Cloud was even a thing, our CEO (Petar Smilajkov), then a freelance web developer, solved for needs of his clients by building a resilient, yet affordable infrastructure for hosting websites and web applications. These were the good old days before Virtual Private Servers (VPSs) were as wide spread as today. Based on Xen Project, and at the time, just released OpenVZ, his hosting infrastructure was already ahead of its time.


Around 2009, We Did "IT" For Others

By 2009 our engineering expertise and experience with VMware Hypervisor was well known, and sought after. Our engineers were the key people who architected a local Columbus startup's Cloud Infrastructure as a Service platform from the ground up. These were the days of large, power-hungry storage arrays (EMC Clariion & Symmetrix/VMAX), and even larger and louder (first-gen) Cisco UCS blades. We ran and supported this infrastructure for, at the time - our employer, until 2013 when the startup was acquired by a well known ISP for over $16M.

2013-2015 - The Light-bulb Years

During these two years, it became clear to us Cloud Service Provider space was crowded by companies which did a mediocre job at best. Everyone was jumping on the Cloud Train, from data-center companies, to Internet Service Providers. Even phone companies like Verizon and AT&T were caught up in the hype. The problem with all of them was the underlying reason they jumped into this: Money! Quality of service and client experience took a back seat. We figured this out early on, as we worked for the companies who were doing it wrong. After we realized they could not be convinced to care, it was time to start our own business: Cloud Propeller!


2015 to Present, and Beyond!

Truth be told, our gamble of starting a business run by engineers, where clients and quality come first, paid off. Our clients are the true testament proving that our philosophy of caring about what we do and about people we do it for actually works. We have been in business for over 9 years now, own all of our equipment (since day one!), have zero debt of any kind, and have 100% client retention rate. If this sounds cool, please reach out to us.
